VY VU

GAPABA MANAGING DIRECTOR

Vy Vu joined GAPABA in June 2024 as the Managing Director where she supports the board in their endeavors to provide engagement and enrichment for the AAPI legal community in Georgia. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Georgia State University. Prior to that, Vy held a position as the AAPI Caucus Chief of Staff for the Georgia House of Representatives and Senate. In this role, she aided in coordinating legislative activities, supported elected officials, and advanced caucus priorities. The responsibilities involved extensive research, event organization, and collaboration with local nonprofits and Asian American Pacific Islander community leaders. Her efforts were mainly focused on enhancing minority participation and recognition in the local law making process.

In addition to her professional objectives, she is deeply passionate on the topic of empowering inmates' education and promoting rehabilitation which includes participating in classes held in maximum security prison settings followed by discussions with the inmates. She also serves as a board member for the Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership, where she contributes to initiatives focused on community welfare and sustainable urban development. Outside of work, Vy enjoys hiking, cooking, and exploring her creative side through painting landscapes.

"I am thrilled to join GAPABA as it provides a supportive platform for members of the AAPI legal community to come together and share their journeys. Witnessing the organization's accomplishments and widespread impact highlights the immense strength that emerges when we unite as a community. I am genuinely excited to be part of this transformative journey and to continue contributing to the impactful change alongside many dedicated members of the organization."
