GAPABA Committees

Joining a committee is a great way to get actively involved with GAPABA. If you would like to volunteer for or inquire about a committee, please contact the Committee Chairs, provided below.

The Communications Committee provides regular information to our membership, including events and job announcements, and administers our membership database.  It is responsible for e-blasts, developing our social media strategy, and for updating and administering our Facebook & LinkedIn pages and website. Additionally, it provides information about GAPABA to news media and other external parties. If you have an affinity for social media, newsletter, or website design, please join us!

The Programming Committee plans our activities for the year, including but not limited to events and activities for law firm attorneys, in-house counsel, public sector members, and law students.  The Programming Committee is also responsible for outreach and planning activities with other Bar associations.  If you would like to become involved in planning our calendar of events and handling programming logistics, or would like to propose a GAPABA program, contact us!

Community Service

Public Service

The Community Service Committee creates pro bono opportunities for our members and supports charitable events that assist our APA communities. They work with local non-profit organizations including Asian Americans Advancing Justice for Atlanta and The Center for Pan Asian Community Services.  If you have ideas or want to join in our planning, contact us!

2018 Co-Chairs: Andrew Q. Leba (Boardmember), Finnegan, & Wellington Tzou, WebMD

The Public Service Committee creates events and activities that support, in a non-partisan fashion, GAPABA members who have an interest in pursuing judicial office, political appointment, public service position, or other non-partisan elected office.  In 2018, GAPABA has instituted an endorsement policy for the Bar Association for eligible candidates. If you are interested in public service and judicial events, please contact us!

New Lawyers & Law Students

The New Lawyers & Law Students Committee organizes events and activities geared towards law students and lawyers with 5 years or less of legal experience to provide networking and mentoring opportunities, and to develop the next generation of GAPABA's leaders.  If you are a young lawyer or law student, and are interested in developing or attending events geared towards you, contact us!

2018 Co-Chairs: Paul Nam, Blue Fin, & Baylie Fry, Baker Hostetler

The Finance committee recommends the annual budget and considers financial controls.  Led by our treasurer, it manages our incoming and outgoing expenses, including sponsorships and reimbursements.  The Programming Committee proposes a budget for events in 6-month periods, which are reviewed by the Board for approval.  If you have a head for figures, or administrative accounting details to assist in reviewing our budget and reconciling reimbursement for events, join us!

2018 Co-Chairs: Steven Wong (Treasurer), The Home Depot, & Aamir Kazi, Fish & Richardson
