    Happy Hour Sponsored by:

Our host and sponsor, SynerG Law Complex, is offering special discounts to GAPABA members who attend this event. A number of solos and small firms use SynerG as their “second location” just to get access to their networking events, client referral program, and robust Westlaw plan for their Gold Plan membership fee of only $299 per month.  As part of this event, SynerG has agreed to discount this to $275 for section members for the first year (that’s $288 annually or almost a free month). It is unlikely you can even get your own Westlaw plan for that much money. Finally, SynerG recently announced “a la carte” pricing for non-SynerG members for their conference, meeting rooms, and offices for depositions, mediations, and meetings for a limited time subject to availability. SynerG is willing to offer GAPABA members a 25% discount on this pricing through the remainder of 2019. Membership truly does have its benefits. Please contact Jason Graham at 678-273-3971 or jason@graham.legal for a tour or with any questions.

LENGTH OF WALK: Approximately 2 miles

Every year for the past 5 years, TeamGAPABA has walked in solidarity with thousands down Buford Hwy. for TEAWalk. For the past 14 years, ever-increasing numbers of Atlanta’s diverse communities have participated in TEA Walk. We walk in solidarity as one family, one community, and one America in the largest empowerment walk of its kind in the South – TEA Walk, Together Empowering All. We walk in unity to celebrate the diversity of our community and to promote civic engagement. After a two-mile empowerment walk along Buford Highway in Doraville, Georgia, CPACS hosts a dynamic community fair and stage show, complete with light refreshments, music, dance, sponsorship booths, and more, all free of charge! Last year, TEA Walk 2018 boasted over 3,300 participants. Many ethnic groups were represented including some 20 different ethnic Asian American communities, associations, religious affiliations, local universities, community allies, and media.

IN MEMORIAM: HAN C. CHOI

From his Law Firm, Ballard Spahr

Han C. Choi, who served as Managing Partner of Ballard Spahr's Atlanta Office, led the firm's Korea Initiative, and was respected locally and nationally for his extraordinary work on behalf of Asian American lawyers and students, died March 26, 2018.

Mr. Choi, 52, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April 2017. He was determined to maintain his successful law practice, as well as his active civic and social life, for as long as possible. In the year since his diagnosis, Mr. Choi traveled with his wife, Catherine, and their three children. He was honored by civic organizations he helped build and grow, assisted clients with their business needs, and—as always—participated in activities that enriched the lives of others.

... "Han was a leader, a teacher, a mentor, a friend. He was all of those things in one," Ballard Spahr Associate Stephanie Kim said. "He truly cared about his clients, some of whom became his closest friends. And he listened to others because he didn't believe that his way was always the right way. Even in the most pressure-filled situation, he remained calm and looking for solutions. That had a quiet, uplifting effect on everyone around him.”
