2015 NAPABA CONVENTION

NEW ORLEANS, LA,
NOV. 5 - 8 2015

THINGS TO KNOW FOR GAPABA FOLKS:

- Download the NAPABA Convention App, available on both on Apple and Android platforms!  The App provides the full schedule of events at a glance, and provides key information for attendees.

- FRIDAY, Nov. 6, 4:30 PM: Sutherland Asbill Brennan, LLP (courtesy of Chris Chan) is hosting a special Cocktail Reception for our Chapter at The Public Belt, located on Level 2 of the Convention Hotel, the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.  Drinks are complimentary.

- SATURDAY, Nov. 7, 9:15 am - 10:30 AM: Please attend and support the very special CLE sponsored by GAPABA: Influencer, you? Elected Office: What it Takes to be a Leader or Leader-maker!

Program Description: Do you have what it takes to run for judge, governor, attorney general, legislator or congresswoman/–man; mayor, council member or school board?  Further your career while serving your community and making history by growing the elected Asian-American profile. Your legal training and experience has prepared you for the technical aspects of these offices. Hear from current and former elected officials, judges, and a campaign law expert about the decision-points in launching a career in office as well as the challenges encountered in their campaigns and how the challenges were overcome to achieve victory.  Learn about campaign nuts and bolts: finance, grassroots development and the role of political parties and outside independent groups.  You will leave knowing if you’re ready to be an elected leader or leader-maker.

Moderator: Judge Carla Wong McMillian (Georgia Court of Appeals); Speakers: Judge Meng Lim (Georgia Superior Court Judge), Mark T. Morodomi (formerly Chief of Enforcement of the State of California, FPPC (Fair Political Practices Commission), Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes, and Delegate Mark Keam (Virginia House of Delegates)

- SATURDAY AFTERNOON: 3 - 3:30 PM, Grand Ballroom: Because we are invited to the stage to accept our Affiliate of the Year Award at the Saturday evening Gala, we are slotted for a special "rehearsal" time, as instructed by NAPABA. SUGGESTED: when we accept the award in the evening, as a visual sign of GAPABA Unity, we encourage you to wear a RED ITEM, such as a scarf or tie.

CONVENTION LOCATION: Hilton New Orleans Riverside
