Our keynote speaker is the illustrious Vicky Ogawa Kimbrell, who serves as the Director of the Family Law Unit at the Georgia Legal Services Program. She is recognized statewide as an expert on health and family law issues, particularly domestic violence. She has written widely and has handled numerous federal and state appellate public interest cases dealing with healthcare, custody, child support, juvenile law, and public benefits.

Born in Gwinnett County, Ms. Kimbrell is the first identified Asian American woman to be a member of the Georgia Bar. Her Awards and Recognition include:

  • The Dan Bradley award from the State Bar of Georgia for her years of public service
  • The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council’s Directors Award
  • The Family Violence Commission’s Gender Justice Award based on her advocacy for victims of Domestic Violence
  • Recognized by Emory Law School’s Public Interest Committee
  • Appointed by three Georgia Governors to serve on the Georgia Family Violence Commission
  • Appointed to the original Committee on Justice for Children.
