Sarah Carlson will share her story of leaving her New York BigLaw firm and what she learned by reshaping her own career to align with her values. She will discuss the basic techniques of Self-Advocacy that she now teaches to clients and students around the country, including simple steps to claim, honor, and communicate your unique strengths and the value you offer to your employer and the world.
Sarah is a Harvard Law graduate and professional powerhouse who walked away from her BigLaw life to live in a tent and volunteer in Haiti. She is now the CEO of her own company where she liberates lawyers and other professionals from unhappy careers by giving them the tools and confidence to make powerful professional pivots. Sarah also serves as the Director of Professional Development at Candler School of Theology where she works with spiritually minded professionals on their career trajectories and will teach coursework on professional self-advocacy this Spring. Finally, Sarah speaks around the country and, through it all, works to inspire and equip people to claim their power and realize their unique potential in a world that doesn’t make that easy.

AARC also engages in countless other forms of help every year, including a toy drive, and blanket donations to the homeless.
